In this book J. S.Trojan is attempting to discover the intrinsic values of the Christian faith related to the Human Rights issues. The first part of the book is concentrated on the Biblical aspects of the idea of Human Rights. Focusing on the medieval history of the Czech Christian tradition, it is obvious, that rather than explicit formulations some strains of or trends to Human Rights can be found in it. Thus a number of the illuminative motives can be followed in the work of the pre-hussite period, in J. Huss´ theology itself and his practical activity, as well as in the work of his contemporaries (Chelčický, Mikuláš from Pelhřimov). Among them particularly the contribution of the Unity of Brethren has to be considered. From the Catholic tradition the work of B. Brentano stands under the examination. Finally the contribution of the Christian Churches has been reflected.
